Tournament Costs
Local Tournaments
Tournaments which we drive to in the morning and drive home from at night are classified as local tournaments. These range from tournaments at Taft HS, possibly even at El Camino Real HS, to tournaments at CSU Long Beach and CSU Fullerton. The only costs for these tournaments is the entry fee which is typically $8-$15 and some money to buy food if they do not pack their lunch. Occasionally, since we carpool, the driver might ask for $2-$5 from each passenger as a gas fare.
Long Distance/Out-Of-State Tournaments
Tournaments which we either drive or fly to and stay overnight at a hotel for, are classified as overnight tournaments. These range from the UC Berkeley or Stanford University tournaments in Northern California to Nationals in Dallas or the Tournament of Champions at the University of Kentucky. These tournaments require additional lodging, gas, food, and possible airfare costs on top of the entry fee. However, if a student is on the Free or Reduced Lunch program we do our best to offer partial financial assitance.
